It’s been requested for a while, and now it’s finally happening – Muay Thai is coming to The Hunslet Club.
The Club is excited to welcome Declan Shipley, an experienced coach who competes in Muay Thai boxing himself. With a real passion for the sport, Declan can’t wait to get started, meet new faces and share his experience with the local community.
To launch the new addition, The Hunslet Club will be holding two free taster sessions on Friday (9 October 2026), giving people the chance to meet Declan and have a go:
7 years+ 4:30-5:30pm
16 years+ 5:30-6:30pm
No previous experience is needed and everyone is welcome to come along and give it a try.
Muay Thai is the latest addition to The Hunslet Club’s growing sports programme, which already gives local children and young people the chance to take part in sports including football, rugby, gymnastics, dance and boxing. The Club is always looking for new ways to give the community more opportunities to get active, try something different and find a sport they enjoy.
Declan Shipley, Muay Thai coach at The Hunslet Club, said:
“I’m really excited to get started at The Hunslet Club. I have a real passion for Muay Thai and can’t wait to share that with others, meet new faces and get people involved in the sport.”
The Hunslet Club is inviting the local community to come along, meet Declan and give Muay Thai a go for free.
The Hunslet Club is located on Hillidge Road, LS10 1BP. For more information, contact speach@hunsletclub.org.uk
