Children at Cockburn Ingram Road Academy have been exploring their creativity through an exciting poetry project in partnership with the British Library.
Pupils worked closely with the British Library to create their own poems, developing their use of imaginative language and a range of creative writing techniques.
The project gave children the opportunity to learn more about one of the world’s most famous libraries and discover the vast range of texts it holds.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience, demonstrating enthusiasm and curiosity throughout the project.
Year 5 teacher, Miss Healy, said:
“The children had a brilliant time creating their own poems filled with lots of different creative writing features. They were really inquisitive about how the British Library works, and what types of texts they have.”
The project has helped to inspire a love of writing and reading, while giving pupils a unique insight into the work of a national cultural institution.
