Pupils and families at Lift Cottingley primary school have been getting their hands dirty at a community event in the school’s Forest Area, meeting the new Head of School and helping to prepare the area for growing.
Every class took part over the three days, helping to prepare the school’s new polytunnel and Forest Area for growing fruit, vegetables and flowers.
Parents and carers were invited to join their children, meet Head of School Nic Shepherd and other members of the school team, and spend time together in the Forest Area.
Kelly Bentley, Regional Executive Principal at Lift Schools, said:
“Building strong relationships with our families is really important to us, and this event has been a lovely way to bring everyone together. It has given Nic and the team the chance to meet families and spend time together as a school community.”
The activities also gave pupils a chance to learn about growing fruit and vegetables while working alongside classmates, staff and their families.
The school hopes to eventually use some of what pupils grow to run a small market stall for families and the wider community.
