All Year 6 children attend residential free of charge!

To help develop the resilience of the new Year 6 children at Hunslet Carr Primary School, all of them were taken on a three-day residential to Dearne Valley, which was fully funded by the school.

In order to challenge the Year 6s, help develop positive relationships between children and staff, and to start the year off in a positive way, Hunslet Carr made sure that the trip was free of charge to all families so that no child missed out. The trip was a huge success with the children pushing themselves to conquer their fears, keep going when things got tough and to develop some independence with two nights away from home.

The children absolutely loved the trip and the amazing activities such as: kayaking, high ropes balancing, leap of faith, zip wire and archery. We asked some of the children what their favourite parts were:

Jayden, “I liked the leap of faith because it was high up and you had to jump and grab a trapeze. The ghost stories were good too!”

Lottie, “The kayaking was cool because we also got to play games on the kayaks like tig.”

Dakota, “My favourite part was the problem solving as it got your brain working. Apart from the food, that was the best part!”

With all of this fun they still managed to fit in some sleep!
