Middleton Railway has had a very muted celebration of its Diamond Jubilee this year due to Coronavirus, but it’s not over yet with services running throughout October and November. A Diesel-pulled service will run each Sunday plus a mid week service during half term on Wednesday 28 October. Trains run
We have been distributing copies of the October newspaper to venues around LS10 and LS11 yesterday and today (Thursday 1 October 2020). Copies are available from various food shops including Beeston Co-op, Middleton Asda and Dewsbury Road Tescos as well as many small neighbourhood shops. Copies are also available at
West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue attended a house fire on Broom Crescent just after 11pm last night (29 September 2020). A man and a woman escaped the fire, which had started downstairs but spread to the first floor. The woman suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital by ambulance.
As we previously reported, The Headrow is expected to be open again in both directions from Sunday 4 October 2020. This means that the temporary bus stops on Calverley Street, Great George Street and Merrion Street will be taken out of use and later removed. Bus services will return to

Parkrun has announced today (25 September 2020) that it will not be restarting events in October as it had hoped. Parkrun has become an international phenomenon, encouraging thousands of people to take up physical exercise with a 5km run, jog or walk over a measured course each Saturday morning. South
Kick Start is a new programme from Active Leeds aimed at helping people into work, education or training. The intensive, eight session programme runs over two weeks, and starts on Tuesday (29 September 2020). Most sessions are held at the John Charles Centre for Sport, with two at Herd Farm
