Belle Isle house fire

West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue attended a house fire on Broom Crescent just after 11pm last night (29 September 2020).

A man and a woman escaped the fire, which had started downstairs but spread to the first floor. The woman suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Crews from Hunslet (Dewsbury Road) and Leeds (Kirkstall Road) using breathing apparatus used two hose reels to extinguish the fire and a high powered fan to clear the house of smoke. A fire investigation officer also attended to investigate the cause of the fire.

A smoke alarm was fitted at the property but it’s not clear that it was working.
