After a busy few months hosting a community Iftar, local meetings and popular Picnic in the Park events, the Beeston Hill Community Association (BHCA) is now preparing for its biggest event of the summer – a Summer Fair on Saturday (15 August 2026) from 12-4pm at Lane End Primary School (LS11 6AA).
Building on the success of previous Community Fun Days, the Summer Fair promises an afternoon full of activities, entertainment and opportunities for local people to come together and celebrate everything that makes Beeston Hill such a vibrant and welcoming community.
With the summer holidays in full swing, BHCA knows how challenging it can be to keep children entertained without breaking the bank. That’s why entry to the event is completely free, with a wide range of free activities for children and adults alike.
Visitors can enjoy a petting zoo, circus skills workshops, arts and crafts activities, live entertainment, music from a DJ and much more. Whether you’re looking to try something new, meet your neighbours or simply enjoy a fun day out with the family, there will be something for everyone.
One of the event organisers said:
“At its heart, The Summer Fair is a celebration of connection. It’s a day for families, friends and neighbours to come together, share a laugh and feel the incredible community spirit that makes Beeston Hill so special. Our neighbourhood is built on the talent, kindness and passion of its people, and the event is our chance to celebrate that bond. We can’t wait to see you there for an unforgettable day!”
The fair will also feature a variety of stalls run by local traders, makers and community groups. Visitors will be able to browse handmade gifts, sweet treats, crafts and other unique products while supporting local talent and small businesses. Food and drink will also be available to buy throughout the day.
Alongside the entertainment, a number of local organisations and services will be attending to share information about the support and opportunities available in the area. Representatives from Leeds University will be promoting their Lifelong Learning programme, helping people of all ages and backgrounds explore routes into further education and personal development.
The event has been made possible thanks to the generosity of local residents who donated during BHCA’s Iftar event earlier this year, alongside support from funders including the Postcode Lottery, Groundwork and Leeds City Council.
By working together, BHCA and its partners continue to create positive opportunities that strengthen community connections and showcase the best of Beeston Hill. As another of BHCA team said;
“Our area has so much for celebrate – the people, the spirit, the sense of the community. The Summer Fair is our moment to do exactly that. Come along, bring the family, and be part of a brilliant day.”
