
Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds.
We start this week in Hunslet where The Church of the Nazarene host their monthly coffee morning with affordable breakfast on Saturday morning, 10am-12pm. Lupton Street, LS10 2QR.
On Saturday afternoon the Beeston Repair Café returns. Bring broken electricals, clothes needing alterations, a bike that needs attention. The volunteer fixers will do their best to mend them. 1-4pm at St Luke’s CARES shop, 246 Dewsbury Road, LS11 6JQ.
Friends of Middleton Park volunteers will be leading Bluebell Walks on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday. They’ve teamed up with Middleton Railway, who are offering free travel to children who bring their teddy bear. The walks start at Park Halt meeting the trains at 11:20am, 12:40pm and 2:20pm and wind through the woods to the Visitor Centre and back, enjoying the carpet of bluebells along the way. Alternatively, you can join the walk at the Visitor Centre. No need to book, free, but donations welcome.
Hunslet Nelson Cricket Club’s First XI play Spen Victoria CC on Sunday at 1pm. The home fixture is at their ground on Gipsy Lane, opposite Cockburn School in Beeston, LS11 5TT.
The Friends of Middleton Park are also holding their monthly litterpick on Sunday, meeting at the visitor centre by the lake at 1:30pm. Equipment is provided.
Hunslet RLFC face Workington Town in the Championship on Sunday at South Leeds Stadium, LS11 5DJ. Kick off is at 3pm, tickets from: hunsletrflc.ticketco.events. Kids under 16 are free and if they are wearing their community club shirt, accompanying adults pay just £5.
Buy, Sell, Swap is the new version of the jumble or car boot sale and you can take part in one at Manorfield Hall Community Centre, Newhall Road, LS10 3RR on Tuesday 10-11:30am. Entry is free, refreshments will be on sale, get down a buy, sell or swap new and used items.
Are you struggling with your computer? If so drop in to Tech Tuesday at Jamyang Buddhist Centre in Holbeck (LS11 9RQ), 10am-2pm for expert advice.
Stronger Together is a friendly support group for parents, guardians and carers who care for children and young people with disabilities. It is a monthly space to chat and share. The next meeting is on Tuesday, 11am-1pm at BITMO’s GATE, Aberfield Gate, LS10 3QH.
There’s more computer support on offer on Wednesday with the Digital 121 Support drop in session at Beeston Community Hub & Library (LS11 8PN) 10-11am and at Dewsbury Road Community Hub & Library (LS11 6PF) from 1:30-2:30pm.
Thursday is Polling Day, please don’t forget to vote and remember to take ID to your polling station. If you haven’t decided who to vote for check out our election pages with candidates details and recordings of the hustings meeting we’ve held for each ward.
There is a drop-in councillor surgery at Gascoigne House, LS10 4YA in Middleton on Thursday morning 9-10am.
Hunslet Carr Residents Association meets on Thursday, 6:30pm, at Woodhouse Hill Community Centre, LS10 2EF.
Beeston Community Forum have postponed their regular monthly meeting until next week to avoid clashing with the local election.
Leeds Civic Trust are hosting A Leeds and Holbeck Photography Walk on Wednesday, 10am-12pm. This is a walk to explore some of the many photographic opportunities in an area of Leeds where there have recently been huge changes, but where heritage sits side by side with modern development, exploring the western outskirts of Leeds City Centre and Holbeck and making stops to photograph some heritage sites. Tickets for walks are £6 for Leeds Civic Trust members and £9 for non-members. Book at leedscivictrust.org.uk/guided-walks-season-2026/
There is a Police Contact Point at Cottingley Community Centre on Friday, 10am-12pm. This is a chance to raise concerns or ask questions of the Leeds South Neighbourhood Policing Team in an informal setting.
And finally, the Friends of Cottingley Community Centre are holding a fundraising bingo session to help keep the centre open on Friday evening 6-8pm. Prize and cash bingo, food and tuck shop.
