Urgent call for supplies at Holbeck Food Bank

Holbeck Food Bank has issued a plea for particular supplies after struggling to get hold of essential items from their usual supermarket sources.

Local Councillor Angela Gabriel has joined with the Food Bank to ask people for items they are running low on. People have continued to be extremely generous but there are items that are in short supply at the Food Bank, they try to give out certain foods with each delivery to ensure each person has enough food for three days.

The items they need help with are:

JAM : CARROTS : PEAS : POTATOES : POT NOODLES

SNACK SHOTS : TOMATOES : PASTA SAUCE : TOMATOES VEGETABLE SOUPS : SPAGHETTI LOOPS : HOT DOGS: RED KIDNEY BEANS : BISCUITS : FRAY BENTOS PIES

MEAT PRODUCTS : RICE PUDDING : CUSTARD

There are also items that people are being asked NOT to bring in, these are:

BAKED BEANS : TOMATO SAUCE : BROWN SAUCE : MAYONNAISE : COOKING OIL : SALAD CREAM : SALT : HERBS : NAPPIES : PET FOOD

People can find out where to donate by calling 07710 467587.

Councillor Angela Gabriel (Beeston and Holbeck) said:

“People have been, and continue to be, incredibly generous but the Holbeck Food Bank is now running very low on some essentials.

“I do understand that the current situation makes people very anxious and worried but we need to ensure we are looking after those people who rely on Food Banks as well. It would make such a difference if people could bring in products from the list so that everyone has the food they need to help get them through this difficult period of time.”

  1. Hello, I am currently self isolating as I have a long term medical condition but last week I started collecting items for a food bank and they are sat in my cupboard in Morley waiting to go to a food bank! Is there anyway without physically turning up to the food bank to pass you these items?
    Thanks
    Natalie

    1. Hi Natalie,
I live in Morley and could pick up your items next week and drop them at the food bank? Although I’m not sure where it is! I can find out though. Does that sound OK? Hannah
