Sign up as Community Care Volunteer

A city wide volunteering scheme has been set up by Voluntary Action Leeds (VAL), working with Leeds City Council, to organise a co-ordinated response to support the vulnerable through the Coronavirus crisis.

As well as identying volunteers the scheme will ensure that both recipents of support and volunteers stay safe. VAL are now calling on people who are healthy and low risk to sign up for the scheme.

A spokesperson explained:

“The programme is designed so that people can sign-up to volunteer in a range of different roles, depending on availability and preference. Volunteers can sign-up to offer practical support for vulnerable people (such as shopping deliveries, preparing meals, making check-in phone calls) or can sign-up as an informal volunteer to help within their own neighbourhood in more general ways.”

Already 1,000 people have joined the scheme. If you can volunteer please complete this online form

Once the form has been completed, you will be contacted to discuss your role and match you with opportunities to help. Virtual training and guidance will be provided for relevant roles.

VAL is a registered charity, based in Hunslet, working all year round to support a thriving voluntary, community and social enterprise sector across Leeds.
