I’m a fellow local resident – and a Yorkshire born lad. And having lived in the same house in Belle Isle for over 20 years, I’ve seen a lot of changes here in that time.

I first became involved in representing local issues being on the lead team of the Stop Stourton campaign; against the loss of green space for the Park & Ride project. By helping to raise the profile of the scheme locally, speaking with residents and listening to their concerns, was able to fight for changes the proposed scheme and limit the overall size, thus reducing its impact on the local community and effects on the environment.

I have worked with children and young people for over 10 years in my role as foster carer, and as well as this volunteer with the city’s foster care association, supporting carers and young people across the city. In addition to this I also attend various community groups and sit as a trustee for a Middleton based charity.

I want Middleton and Belle Isle to be a better, safer, and cleaner place for everyone. Help me join Wayne and Emma, as your local Middleton Park ward councillors.

Vote Rob Chesterfield, SDP on May 2nd

Hi, I’m Julie, or keepfitjulie. I’ve lived in Middleton most of my life, and actually live in the house where I was born. I’ve worked and volunteered in Middleton and Belle Isle for over 30 years, in many roles connected with community health and wellbeing, and bringing people together. I’ve devoted most of my life to serving my community.

Like so many, I’m disappointed with politics, globally and locally. We’re all experiencing so many problems: a creaking health system (physical, mental, dental); lack of educational support, which holds people back; inability to afford good nutritious food, and poor nutrition in schools; ragged roads and paths; limited police presence, and increasing crime; lack of good communal spaces; etc.

These all have a huge impact on the health of our community, and I’m proud to be representing the Greens in their fight to make positive local change here in Middleton and Belle Isle. Can we make our community a place where people are proud to live, where people can thrive, where we can grow and come together as a strong community, where we can make changes to improve our health, and where we can all be proud to call our home?
