St Luke’s CARES was delighted to officially open its new lift at its charity shop this week, made possible thanks to CIL (Community Infrastructure Levy) funding from the Council’s Inner South West Community Committee.
The opening was a very special moment for us and another important step in making sure our building is genuinely accessible and welcoming to everyone.
When we first moved into the building over 11 years ago, it was dark, dank and very different from the warm and lively place it is today. Over the years, a great deal of hard work, care and love has gone into transforming it into a bright, welcoming community space full of life and activity.
The new lift means that even more people can now fully access and enjoy the building. We have always wanted this to be somewhere that everyone feels they belong, and accessibility is an essential part of that.
We are extremely grateful to the Inner South West Community Committee for the CIL funding which made the lift possible, and to everyone who joined us to celebrate its opening.
Looking back at where we started more than 11 years ago, it was wonderful to celebrate just how far the building — and our community — have come.
St Luke’s CARES’ charity shop is at 246 Dewsbury Road, LS11 6JQ.
