New Bewerley Community School in Beeston is celebrating a highly positive Ofsted report that praises its strong safeguarding culture, ambitious teaching and deeply inclusive ethos. Inspectors highlighted the school’s warm relationships, high expectations for behaviour and rich personal development programme, describing the school as a valued “hub of hope” within the community.
Pupils were found to be respectful, kind and eager to learn, with bullying reported as rare and dealt with quickly and effectively. The Early Years Foundation Stage received particular acclaim for its ambitious curriculum and focus on early communication, giving children the confidence and readiness needed for Year 1.
Inspectors also commended the school’s exceptional SEND provision, delivered through the Nest, the Learning Tree and the Rainbow Room. Leaders were recognised for their high expectations for all pupils and their investment in training and targeted interventions that are improving attendance and engagement.
The school’s refreshed personal development curriculum—including the much‑loved NB60 and NB30 programmes—was celebrated for fostering resilience, confidence and cultural understanding. Pupils also benefit from a wide range of clubs, leadership opportunities and support for wellbeing and healthy relationships.
Leadership and governance were identified as significant strengths, with inspectors praising staff morale and the school’s clear vision: “every child, every day.” Recent improvements to curriculum, phonics and teaching are already strengthening classroom practice.
Headteacher Juli Aldwinkle said:
