Leeds Knights still going strong

By Michael Ullah at the planet ice arena

It had been a while since I had been to watch Leeds Knights. I decided to go and see how they were getting on.

I had not been to Planet Ice in over a year, the atmosphere was as great as ever and it was great to see fans of all ages coming to show their support for the team.

The opposition for this match was Basingstoke Bison, who currently sit bottom of the league table. It was a comfortable win for the Knights despite going 0-1 down early on.

Knights goaltender Sam Gospel made a series of brilliant saves in the first period and as the game wore on Knights took control, hitting the crossbar before eventually reaching a 4-1 lead.

Basingstoke pulled a goal back late on and pushed for a third but Knights held on for a 4-2 win with more goaltender heroics late on.

It was a very entertaining match with both teams playing positive end to end attacking hockey tactics.

Full time: Knights 4-2 Bison

The Knights currently sit at fifth place in the league table (as of 2 March 2026). The season ends on 22 March.

Remaining home ice hockey fixtures:

vs Sheffield Steeldogs Friday 6 March, 7pm
vs Romford Raiders Saturday 14 March, 6:30pm
vs Peterborough Phantoms Sunday 22 March, 4:15pm
