Five South Leeds boxers were proud and delighted to win their bouts on the recent Haynes Promotions show held at The Angler’s Club in Burmantofts with Leighton Campbell taking the promotion’s 90kg title belt following a stunning first round knockout of his opponent, Nottingham’s Andy Goy. All five are trained by Tristan Haynes and Anthony Miller at Beeston’s MSA gym.
“I was confident Leighton would get the win,” said Tristan Haynes. “He was our ‘most improved’ boxer in 2025 and is totally committed to his training and improving his performance, nevertheless this was dramatic and shows just how powerful a puncher Leighton has become. No opponent is safe and although those attending like to see a fight last, they’re always impressed when a fighter proves immediately just how tough he is.”
“This was my fourth win and third stoppage on Tristan’s show and I’m proud of my belt,” said bank worker and Hunslet resident Leighton, 26. “I came to boxing from rugby. We’re coached twice a week by Tristan and Anthony for a couple of hours with on average fifteen training each session. I’ve won three bouts including two by stoppage. I’m next out on another promotion in May and am keen to have the busiest 2026 possible. I love being in the ring, showing how physically and mentally tough I can be and making my supporters proud as I achieve.”
Also winning by stoppage was Middleton’s Danny Weston, 36. “I dominated the bout from the centre throughout and gave my opponent Toby Race some punishment. I’m particularly proud that I’ve learnt to stay calm and deliver some powerful shots to an opponent’s body and head and which hurt. That’s the sport. It’s not personal. Like all boxers I want to win. This was my fourth win. The best part is how very proud my children are that their dad is a successful semi-professional boxer.”
Kieran MacMillan, 18, and Harry Brown, 17, were delighted to achieve stoppage wins as they respectively defeated ‘Stumpy’ Taylor and Liam Crawley with teammate Tomas Tokar, 21, beating Lewis Low by unanimous decision. “Kieran, Harry and Tomas are disciplined and dedicated in training,” stated Tristan Haynes. “That’s why they achieve.”
