What’s On Roundup 5-11 September 2026

Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds.

We start this week in Hunslet where The Church of the Nazarene host their monthly coffee morning with affordable breakfast on Saturday morning, 10am-12pm. Lupton Street, LS10 2QR.

Head to Skelton Grange Environment Centre in Stourton for their annual Open Day on Saturday. Come along and play, explore the site, have a go at natural crafts. There will be craft activities for all ages, woodland play and outdoor games. The cafe will be open, selling homemade cakes and savoury treats, or enjoy a pizza from the wood-fired pizza oven.

Hunslet Nelson Cricket Club’s First XI play Streethouse CC on Saturday at 12pm. The home fixture is at their ground on Gipsy Lane, opposite Cockburn School, LS11 5TT.

On Saturday afternoon the Beeston Repair Café returns. Bring broken electricals, clothes needing alterations, a bike that needs attention. The volunteer fixers will do their best to mend them. 1-4pm at St Luke’s CARES shop, 246 Dewsbury Road, LS11 6JQ.

Contrary to information in our printed newspaper, your Labour Beeston & Holbeck councillors will be holding their monthly surgery on  Saturday at Beeston Community Hub & Library from 10am-12pm.

The Friends of Middleton Park are also holding their monthly litterpick on Sunday, meeting at the visitor centre by the lake at 1:30pm. Equipment is provided.

As it’s the first week of June there are a number of residents meetings taking place, starting with Middleton Community Group which meets on Monday, 6-7pm, at the Middleton Elderly Aid Social Centre, Acre Road, LS10 4LF.

The Garnet and Oakley Tenants & Residents Association also meet on Monday at 6:30pm at the St Luke’s CARES Charity shop, 246 Dewsbury Road, LS11 6JQ.

On Tuesday the Inner South West Community Committee meets at Leeds Civic Hall at 5:30pm. There will be a livestream of the meeting and the recording will be available to watch afterwards.

SEN-tastic are hosting a drop-in for parents and carers of children with special educational needs. They offer advice, support or just an ear to listen. 9:15-11:15am at St Luke’s Church on Malvern Road, Beeston Hill, LS11 8PD.

Looking for work or a new opportunity? Visit the Jobs Fair at Hunslet Community Hub on Wednesday, from 10am to 1pm. Meet a range of local employers, explore available vacancies and receive free CV advice and job-search support.

Hunslet Tenants and Residents Association meet on Wednesday from 4-6pm for their monthly meeting at Hunslet Community Hub & Library, Waterloo Road, Hunslet, LS10 2NS.

There is a Police Contact Point at Cottingley Community Centre on Friday, 10am-12pm. This is a chance to raise concerns or ask questions of the Leeds South Neighbourhood Policing Team in an informal setting.

Friday is Apple Day at Skelton Grange. Spend the morning picking apples from our many trees on site and the afternoon using a press to squeeze some fresh juice. On Friday Involve Learning Centre, Whitfield Avenue, Hunslet, will be holding an Open Day to mark the next phase in its development as a place for community activity. It will be open between 11am and 3pm and will feature a host of their partner organisations such as Insight, the Friendship Group and Savage Martial Arts. Joanne Boyes will be there to promote her Employment and Skills workshops along with Centre for Warmth and the Green Doctors.

And finally, on Friday Rooted, the community arts projectis holding a workshop at The Loft, in Holbeck. Entitled ‘Have a go at drawing – Still life with Plants’ you will use pencil, charcoal, acrylics and watercolours. Booking essential: call Tania on 07917 157830.
