Nine young people from the Senior Youth Club at The Hunslet Club enjoyed an unforgettable and inspiring visit to Channel 4 News this week, gaining a rare behind-the-scenes look at the world of live television broadcasting.
During the visit, the group explored how a national news programme comes together, from digital production and editorial planning to the fast-paced studio environment. They also had the opportunity to see areas often hidden from viewers, including hair and make-up, while learning about the wide range of roles involved in bringing the news to air.
One of the most exciting moments of the evening saw the young people step into the presenter’s chair themselves, trying their hand at reading from a teleprompter, an experience that gave them a real taste of life in front of the camera. The highlight of the trip was watching the news broadcast live across the country.

Senior Youth Club at The Hunslet Club, for young people in Year 8 and above, continues to provide opportunities like this for members of the local community. Sessions run every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5-9pm.
