Tree planting marks Hunslet St Mary’s new extension

Hilary Benn our local Member of Parliament was at St Mary’s Primary School in Hunslet for the official opening of the new school building extension on Friday 13 July 2018.

Mr Benn was grilled with questions at a session with years 5 and 6, followed by the planting of a magnolia tree and a visit around the school chatting to pupils, staff and governors. Mr Benn was accompanied by Mr Ford (the Headteacher), Mrs Joyce Horsbrough (Chair of Governors), Mrs Pamela Clark, Mrs Suzanne Wildridge, Fr Chris & Fr Martin from the local Parish of Belle Isle & Hunslet, who performed a short blessing of the new tree, the new school building, the pupils and staff and all those who worked so hard for the benefit of the young people of Hunslet.
