Dewsbury Road saw a peaceful roadside protest showing solidarity with people in Gaza and the West Bank in Palestine on Monday (12 May 2025).
Whilst the protest was silent, many drivers showed their support by tooting their horns and waving.
The roadside protests have been going on for about six months all over Leeds, but this was the first one in Beeston.
Local resident Sally Kincaid told South Leeds Life:
“I joined in to show my support for Palestinian people and show my opposition to what Isreal is doing there . I was amazed and delighted by the level of support we got, from people passing by who honked their horns and even delivering water us because it was a very hot day. It’s part of the ongoing struggle in solidarity with the people of Palestine and it’s something that other people can get involved with too.”

Hi Alex, no one I spoke to on the protest hated Jewish people. What they hated was the actions of the Israeli government towards Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
