A racket sports centre could be created in South Leeds if plans to convert an industrial unit are agreed.
Planning permission has been sought to turn a building at Millshaw Park Lane in Beeston into a padel centre. The fast-growing sport would be played at a new facility operated by Slazenger Padel Clubs if Leeds City Council agrees to the proposal.
A design report said the company already operated a 12-court padel centre at Coal Road in Seacroft. The Beeston centre would would be open to members from 6am-midnight daily. The report said:
“The proposal is for this unit to offer 13 premium indoor courts, with elite coaching and training programs, a pro-shop and equipment hire.
“The customer facilities, including changing rooms and toilets, are all at ground floor level.”
Jobs would be created if the planning application is approved for the Beeston site, the report said.
It said: “It is anticipated that between 15–20 jobs will be created across management, reception and coaching roles, in a mix of full time, part time and self-employed posts.
“In addition, further casual and part-time roles will arise through events, coaching programmes and community initiatives.”
You can read the full planning application here and comment on it until Monday 13 April 2026.
