The Leeds Waterfront Festival returns to a host of venues along the river this weekend, 29th and 30th June.
Organisers promise a host of entertainments and activities from boat rides to heritage walks and from disco dancing to stilt walking.
The New Dock will host a dramatic Dragon boat racing contest on Saturday. Having competed in previous years and capsizing once I can vouch for the excitement of these sprints down the dock. Meanwhile Brasserie Blanc will be bringing a suitably French feel to the festivities with a display of vintage 2CVs, a petanque match (that’s boules to you and me) and a popup creperie.
Thwaite Mills in Stourton is one of the festival venues where you can find:
- Free boat rides with the Safe Anchor Trust
- A range of canal, working and other traditional boats
- Steam Crane
- Bouncy castle and mini fair
- Face painting
- Craft and artisan stalls
- Blacksmith
- Food and drink stalls
- Live music
With a vintage bus service linking the sites, this promises to be another excellent weekend. Full details are available on the festival website: www.leedswaterfrontfestival.com/
