A historic cricket club could be boosted with new facilities if plans can be agreed with the city council.
Hunslet Nelson Cricket Club in Beeston is seeking planning permission to build a new club house.
The club, founded in 1869, said the new building, along with new changing rooms and car parking, would support its nine teams and nearby community groups.
A planning report said:
“The proposals will allow for the future growth of the club and allow for the removal of insufficient, outdated, temporary buildings.
“The proposal will provide a new clubroom, with bar kitchen, toilets and plant, as well as an adjoining changing rooms for players and officials.”
The club moved to its current ground on Gipsy Lane, Beeston, in 1999 after previously being based at Hunslet Green.
All-weather training areas were among improvemed facilities already made at the current ground, the report said.
It said: “However, the aim has always been to create a new clubhouse facility which combines clubroom and changing facilities within a single building.”
Leeds City Council is considering a full planning application for the proposal.
You can view the full planning application here and comment on it until Thursday 5 March 2026.
