Local residents in Cottingley have been making the most of the warm weather with their new multi-use games area with space for football, basketball, table tennis and general exercise, the MUGA has proved to be very popular.
The MUGA is located on Cottingley Drive and has replaced the old skate park. It has been funded through Morley Town Deal funding with local Councillors contributing around £30,000 for lighting costs.
Local Councillors Andrew Scopes and Shaf Ali were keen to ensure enhanced provision within the area and so are delighted with the new MUGA and the positive impact it will have on the local community.
Councillor Andrew Scopes (Labour, Beeston and Holbeck), said:
“I’m very pleased to see that the new MUGA is already so well used, with so many different sporting options it really will help to bring the community together and perhaps help us discover our next Harry Kane!
“Although the MUGA is up and running there are still some further works to be undertaken later in the year, including planting to green up the area but this needs to be completed in early Autumn.”
