Last year Aire Valley Homes supported more than 30 local initiatives and projects in South Leeds through the Inner South Area Panel, writes Carla Yoemans.
Events such as Holbeck Gala and Hunslet Festival received funding, as well as the new ‘Welcome to Middleton sign’ and the coffee mornings at Cross Ingrams Community Centre in Holbeck.
Each one of Aire Valley Homes’ three Area Panels is given an annual budget, which local groups can bid for to fund projects or schemes that benefit Aire Valley Homes tenants, and/or the area in which they live.
The Inner South Area Panel – covering Holbeck, Beeston, Beeston Hill, Dewsbury Road, Middleton and Hunslet – is made up of tenants, two local Councillors, and is chaired by Roy Birch, Aire Valley Homes Tenant Board Member.
It’s a forum where local residents get to make decisions that affect the services and conditions in their local area.
If you’re interested in applying for funding from Aire Valley Homes Inner South Area Panel, visit www.avhleeds.org.uk and download an application form, or contact Carla Yeomans, Improvement and Involvement Officer on t: 0113 214 1936 e: carla.yeomans@avhleeds.org.uk.
The Inner South Area Panel is also looking for two new members to join them as they invest in our neighbourhoods and support local projects…. If you’re looking for a way of supporting your community and making a difference to where you live, then joining an Area Panel might be just up your street!
Volunteering is an amazing way of learning new skills and getting access to training.
