Diary dates: South Leeds summer galas

We reported yesterday how the clock was ticking down to June 9 and this year’s Beeston Festival and we wanted to bring you the dates of some3 of the other big summer events and galas which are a staple of life in South Leeds.

On Saturday 19 May the Cottingley Summer Fayre at Cottingley Community Centre, with lots of stalls and fun activities for all.

Belle Isle will host its summer gala on Saturday, June 16 at Windmill Primary School. There will be stalls, childrens’ activities, circus skills, inflatables, youth bus, dance and sports activities. More details from Richard Lancaster by emailing richard.lancaster@healthforall.org.uk

The ever-popular Hunslet Gala will be running on Saturday 30th June. Book stalls and get more information here.

Holbeck Gala has been running for more than 70 years. This year’s gala is now in preparation and takes place on Saturday 21st July. The gala will again see the final of the ‘Junior Superstars’ talent contest for the third year running featuring everything from dance groups, singing, acrobatics and much more, Britains’ Got Talent has nothing on Holbeck! There will be face painting, music, stalls, a parade and regular performaces from the Lynbar Majorettes and local artists.
