Witness appeal after elderly man hit by e bike in Hunslet

Police investigating a serious injury collision in Hunslet are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

It occurred in Church Street, Hunslet at about 4.20pm last Saturday (14 June 2025).

The collision happened by the bus stop and involved an electric pedal cycle and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a man in his sixties, was taken to hospital where he was found to have suffered a serious injury.

It is believed the rider stopped at the scene to ask if the man was OK, but then left.

The incident was reported to police later that day.

PC Bastow at the Roads Policing Unit is appealing to the rider to get in touch and would like anyone who witnessed the collision to contact him.

Anyone with footage of the incident is also asked to call 101, quoting reference 13250337184 or use the online Livechat facility.

  1. It was only a matter of time before someone was seriously injured.
    E-scooters and E-bikes are constantly riding at speed on the pavements and totally ignore the cycle lane, with no visible law enforcement to stop them.

  2. Why not check cctv cameras in that area also why aren’t the electric bikes using the roads

Isn’t it illegal for these bikes to be used unless on private land , I hope the gentleman who suffered serious injuries can recover and that whoever was using this bike contacts the police asap, I’ve often seen these bikes used on public roads and pavements, it’s about time something was done to ban them permanently
