What’s On Roundup 20-26 August 2022

Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds. For full listings go over to our What’s On calendar here.

We start this week on a building site in Middleton. Specifically, the Project Open Day at Throstle Rec site where new Council houses are being built. There will be guided tours of the site (booking essential) and Housing Leeds will be on hand to answer queries about applications and lettings.

Hunslet Nelson Cricket Club play Northowram on Saturday starting at 12:30pm. Why not go along to their Gipsy Lane, Beeston ground (opposite Cockburn School) to enjoy the match.

On Sunday the Friends of Middleton Park are holding a Viewpoints Walk. On a good day there are some excellent views out over Leeds to be had from Middleton Park; and from the old South Leeds Golf Course we now have vistas to the West and Northwest. Meet 1:30pm at the Visitor Centre by the lake.

Leeds United entertain Chelsea on Sunday, kick off 2pm. Expect the usual extra traffic in Beeston before and after the game.

There is a Cleaning Jobs Fair at Dewsbury Road Community Hub & Library on Monday from 10am-2pm. Find out about vacancies with Leeds City Council and get help to apply.

Breeze In the Park visits Middleton Park on Wednesday with sessions at 12-2:30pm and 3-5:30pm. Tickets are 50p and can be booked here www.breezeleeds.org/breeze-in-the-park

Budding 16-25 year old ecologists are encouraged to join a day of flora and fungi surveying on Friday at Skelton Grange Environment Centre in Stourton. Free, booking essential.

And finally, Hunslet RLFC entertain Doncaster under the lights at South Leeds Stadium as we get to the business end of the season. Kick off at 7:45pm, tickets £15, £10 concessions and kids go free.
