South Leeds Life understands that building work is set to start this week (1 September 2020) on the new modular block of classrooms at Cockburn School in Beeston.
As previously reported, the block of seven classrooms, two science labs and an IT suite plus anciliary offices, is be built from modules built off site. The modules will be brought to site on lorries before being craned into position. With this size of building it is likely that there will be a large number of lorry trips this week as they aim to get everything onsite before school starts on Monday 7 September.
The extra teaching spaces are required to accommodate 60 extra bulge places that have been created by Cockburn to help resolve the shortage of secondary school places in South Leeds, as well as addressing historic space needs for the school.
