Many of us have been having clear-outs, and have piles of goodies to donate to our much-loved local charity stores.
They are reopening as follows – please support them with your donations and your custom, to help them sustain their crucial work in our communities.
Note that all will be following strict Coronavirus rules – with 72 hours quarantine on donated goods, and measures in place to keep staff and customers safe. And all expect a high volume of trade, so please bear with them.
The SLATE shop in Hunslet reopens on Tuesday 30 June – and will be open 10am-4pm Monday to Saturday. To donate goods, please arrange collection by ringing (0113) 270 4005 – please don’t drop them off at the stores.
St Vincent’s shop on Town Street in Belle Isle is already open, on reduced hours. Donations are accepted and processed each morning, before the store opens to the public. For full info, call them on (0113) 276 0576.
St Gemma’s shop in Hunslet is reopening from Monday 29 June, and will be open 9am-5pm Monday to Saturday. To donate, request a collection via their website st-gemma.co.uk, or by calling (0113) 255 7552. Their Beeston store doesn’t yet have a restart date.
St Luke’s Cares in Beeston anticipate reopening their store in mid July, and will announce details online and in their shop windows in early July. Collections will restart in the following weeks.
Middleton Elderly Aid’s shop is also planning to reopen in mid July and has had “sneeze screens” fitted as part of its preparations.
Other smaller local charity outlets include: the Trinity Church shop on Dewsbury Road, the Beeston Hill United Free Church shop, the Salvation Army shop on Hunslet Hall Road, and the Church of the Nazarene shop in Beeston. None have announced restart plans yet, but we will publish details as they emerge – and we ask all our readers to support them as they emerge from the lockdown.
Whilst shops are closed please do not leave donations outside.
