White Rose Shopping Centre and the UK’s leading independent engineering and services specialist, NG Bailey, have combined forces to raise more than £2,000 for the British Heart Foundation.
The fundraising event took place in the shopping centre’s Central Atrium, which White Rose volunteered free-of-charge, and included activities such as face-painting, a raffle and tombola, physical activity games to get hearts racing, CPR demonstrations, and The Big Heart Hunt – a balloon treasure hunt around White Rose.
Prizes included a Leeds United shirt signed by the team, a signed Josh Warrington boxing glove, and White Rose gift cards and restaurant vouchers. The total raised on the day was £1,094, to which NG Bailey added an additional £1,000 to total £2,094.
Steven Foster, General Manager at White Rose Shopping Centre, said:
“We’re really pleased that we’ve been able to work alongside NG Bailey to raise these valuable funds for the British Heart Foundation. The donation will go towards helping our community in South Leeds and beyond.”
Anthony Bruney, National Account Manager at NG Bailey, added:
“Our event was a huge success in terms of raising awareness and donations for The British Heart Foundation exceeding expectation owing to the teamwork, passion and enthusiasm of all those involved. We’re delighted that so much support was provided by the Patrons of The White Rose Shopping Centre along with the centre employees and management team. We are already eagerly looking forward to the next event with the British Heart Foundation and our local home community.”
A spokesperson for the British Heart Foundation said:
“We’d like to sincerely thank both NG Bailey and the White Rose Centre for raising such a wonderful amount for the BHF. It was a fantastic day and great to see customers enjoying the day, raising money and learning more about our work. In Leeds alone, the BHF estimates around 84,000 are living with the daily burden of heart and circulatory diseases and it’s only with the support of events like this that we are able to continue our vital research.”
