Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds.
We start this week at St Mary’s Church on Town Street in Middleton, where volunteers will be helping to clear up the graveyard. If you can lend a hand they will be there from 9am- 2pm.
Next to Beeston where Leeds Dads will be holding another free Soft Play session, 10am-12pm on Saturday morning at Little Angels behind the Tommy Wass pub, LS11 7HL. This for dads and pre-school children and there’s free tea and toast! Book: leedsdads.org/events
The Church of the Nazarene host their monthly coffee morning with affordable breakfast on Saturday morning, 10am-12pm. Lupton Street, LS10 2QR.
On Saturday afternoon the Beeston Repair Café returns. Bring broken electricals, clothes needing alterations, a bike that needs attention. The volunteer fixers will do their best to mend them. 1-4pm at St Luke’s CARES shop, 246 Dewsbury Road, LS11 6JQ.
Head to Skelton Grange Environment Centre in Stourton for their annual celebration of playing outside on Saturday from 12-4pm. Explore the meadows, woodland and ponds, and meet some of the creatures that live on their beautiful site. The cafe will be open for home-made cakes and a cuppa – or bring your own picnic! The event is free but donations are much appreciated. Skelton Grange Environment Centre is on Skelton Grange Road (over the bridge) LS10 1RS.
Waterhead Warriors are the visitors to Hunslet ARLFC on Saturday afternoon at Hunslet Club Sports Village, opposite Morrisons, kick off at 2:30pm.
Pickled Republic comes to Slung Low’s Warehouse in Holbeck on Saturday at 7:30pm. Welcome to the jar. Here, tragedy floats and the wail of an abandoned tomato cuts through the salty atmosphere. Come hear the lament of lives not lived, watch the chaotic energy of the search for meaning and find connections between these decaying vegetables and your own existence. It’s Classic Car Sunday at Middleton Railway 10am-4pm. With vintage sports cars to elegant limousines, plus trade stands selling automotive memorabilia, parts, and accessories. There will also be a second hand book sale of railway related books, and of course steam trains running up to Middleton Park. Moor Road, Hunslet, LS10 2JQ.
The Friends of Middleton Park are also holding their monthly litterpick on Sunday, meeting at the visitor centre by the lake at 1:30pm. Equipment is provided.
Beeston Hill Community Association are hosting a Picnic in the Park on Sunday afternoon from 2pm. Bring your picnic blankets, food, games, and good vibes for an afternoon of fun, community spirit, and meeting neighbours. Everyone is welcome! Hold Fast Bookshop at Leeds Dock is hosting events as part of Leeds Literary Festival 2026. ‘Arathi Menon: Illegal to be Gay?’ will see the author in conversation with Isabelle Kenyon from Fly On The Wall Press on Monday, 7-8pm. Memon’s latest book is set in an Indian metropolis in 2013, ‘Da’ is a tender story of a boy caught between devotion and fear, chronicling the everyday courage it takes to love someone the world refuses to accept. Tackling Climate Change via Fiction. John Ironmonger is a best-selling author with a doctorate in zoology and a great speaker on the environment. In this talk we explore how we can tackle climate change via fiction. John will be in conversation with Victoria Bonner on Wednesday, 7-8:30pm. There are a host of Police Contact Points this week. This is a chance to raise concerns or ask questions of the Leeds South Neighbourhood Policing Team in an informal setting. On Tuesday they will be at Hunslet Community Hub & Library from 10am-12pm. On Wednesday they are at Dewsbury Road Community Hub & Library. Then on Thursday they will be at Beeston Community Hub & Library on Town Street.
SEN-tastic are hosting a drop-in for parents and carers of children with special educational needs. They offer advice, support or just an ear to listen. 9:15-11:15am at St Luke’s Church on Malvern Road, Beeston Hill, LS11 8PD.
Hunslet Tenants and Residents Association meet on Wednesday from 4-6pm for their monthly meeting at Hunslet Community Hub & Library, Waterloo Road, Hunslet, LS10 2NS.
And finally, Holbeck’s theatre company Slung Low warmly invites you to join them for Flying High: Creating Flags of Awe & Wonder, a very special flag-making project for our times, which visually and colourfully captures and celebrates all that is AWE-some and WONDER-full about our Holbeck and South Leeds communities. Free Flag Design Workshops will be held on Thursday and Friday, 1-3pm and 6-8pm.
