What’s On Roundup 30 May – 5 June 2026

Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds.

Please note that our warning of heavy traffic this weekend due to the planned closure of the M62 is no longer applicable as the roadworks have been postponed due to the hot weather.

We start properly this week down on Holbeck Moor where there will be lots kids activities including hip hop, basketball, cricket skills, self defence and play with Kidz Klub. Whilst you’re there you can find out more about the Heart of Holbeck regeneration plans and have your say on the plans. 10am-2pm.

There is a Jumble Sale at Hillside in Beeston (LS11 8ND) on Saturday afternoon, 1-4pm. Clothes, books, homewares, toys and much more.

Hunslet Nelson Cricket Club’s First XI play Bowling Old Lane CC on Saturday at 12pm. The home fixture is at their ground on Gipsy Lane, opposite Cockburn School, LS11 5TT.

On Saturday afternoon, 1:30-5:30pm Julie Gill will be leading an afternoon retreat ‘Resonance Within’ at DAZL HQ in Middleton (LS10 4JQ). The retreat includes various workshops to reduce stress and anxiety and foster community connection with like-minded people. £10 paid after the retreat ends. Back to Hunslet Nelson Cricket Club on Sunday for all things Women & Girls ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. There will be Women’s Walking Cricket, Women’s Softball Cricket, Girls Roses Dynamos, Cricket related challenges and activities, music, food and much more, from 10am.

Leeds Dads host another of their Dads and Kids Walks in Middleton Park on Sunday morning. Meet at the visitor centre at 10:45am.

On Sunday the Friends of Middleton Park are leading a free guided walk exploring Beeston Wood on the north west side of the park. Meet at the Visitor Centre by the lake at 1:30pm.

Hunslet RLFC take on league leaders London Broncos in the Championship on Sunday at South Leeds Stadium, LS11 5DJ. Kick off is at 3pm, tickets from: hunsletrflc.ticketco.events. As part its Community Day initiative, kids under 16 are free and if they are wearing their community club shirt, accompanying adults pay just £5. There is also free entry for Active Leeds members and tickets are just £10 for Super League season ticket holders.

As it’s the first week of June there are a number of residents meetings taking place, starting with Middleton Community Group which meets on Monday, 6-7pm, at the Middleton Elderly Aid Social Centre, Acre Road, LS10 4LF.

The Garnet and Oakley Tenants & Residents Association also meet on Monday at 6:30pm at the St Luke’s CARES Charity shop, 246 Dewsbury Road, LS11 6JQ.

A meeting to discuss the planning application for the Pullan’s site in Beeston will take place at The Old White Hart pub on Town Street starting at 6pm. Representatives from St George’s Crypt will be present to answer questions.

Buy, Sell, Swap is the new version of the jumble or car boot sale and you can take part in one at Manorfield Hall Community Centre, Newhall Road, LS10 3RR on Tuesday 10-11:30am. Entry is free, refreshments will be on sale, get down a buy, sell or swap new and used items.

Are you struggling with your computer? If so drop in to Tech Tuesday  at Jamyang Buddhist Centre in Holbeck (LS11 9RQ), 10am-2pm for expert advice.

Stronger Together is a friendly support group for parents, guardians and carers who care for children and young people with disabilities. It is a monthly space to chat and share. The next meeting is on Tuesday, 11am-1pm at BITMO’s GATE, Aberfield Gate, LS10 3QH.

There’s another fundraiser for the Cottingley Community Centre building fund on Tuesday tea time, 5-7pm. The family magic show will include pies, peas and pizza. Tickets are just £5, children £3, or a family ticket for four £12.

The Greenmounts & Surrounding Area Tenants & Residents Association meets on Wednesday at 6:30pm at Rowland Road Working Men’s Club, LS11 6ED.

There are two further residents meetings on Thursday. Firstly, Hunslet Carr Residents Association meets on Thursday, 6:30pm, at Woodhouse Hill Community Centre, LS10 2EF.

Then at 7pm Beeston Community Forum meets on Thursday at Beeston Village Community Centre, off Town Street, LS11 8DQ.

Middleton Elderly Aid host their monthly free legal advice drop-in on Friday morning from 9:30-11:30am at their Social Centre on Acre Road, LS10 4LF.

And finally, we will be distributing our June newspaper to 200 pick up points around LS10 and LS11 from Wednesday onwards so watch out for a copy.
