Leeds Dads are holding a free Soft Play session, 10am-12pm on Saturday morning at Little Angels behind the Tommy Wass pub, LS11 7HL. This for dads and pre-school children and there’s free tea and toast!
Volunteers will be meeting at 10am on Saturday at Hunslet Cemetery, Middleton Road, to carry out various tidying up activities. New people are always welcome and equipment is provided.
The Church of the Nazarene host a coffee morning with affordable breakfast on Saturday morning, 10am-12pm. Lupton Street, Hunslet, LS10 2QR.
Aspiring Communities are launching two weekly coffee morning events this week. Join them on Saturdays 10am-12pm or Mondays 11am-12pm at 49 Barkly Road, Beeston, LS11 7EN
Saturday sees Hunslet Nelson’s Second XI take on Crossflatts CC Second XI at their Gipsy Lane ground, LS11 5TT starting at 12:30pm. Then on Sunday at 1pm the Sunday First XI play Streethouse CC, also at home.
On Saturday afternoon the Beeston Repair Café launches. Bring broken electricals, cloths needing alterations, a bike that needs attention. The volunteer fixers will do their best to mend them. 1-4pm at St Luke’s CARES shop, 246 Dewsbury Road, LS11 6JQ.
The Tower Works Street Fest continues on Saturday and Sunday, 12-9pm, off Water Lane in Holbeck. You will find fresh produce and street food to handmade crafts, original art, craft beer, specialty coffee, live music, and so much more.
Join the Friends of Middleton Park on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday for a walk through the Bluebells. There will be three guided walks on both days, starting at the Visitor Centre at 11am, 12:20pm and 2pm, meeting the 11:10am, 12:30pm and 2:10pm trains from Moor Road at Park Halt, then take everyone through the bluebell woods back to the Visitor Centre where the cafe will be open for refreshments.
Hunslet RLFC take on Widnes Vikings at South Leeds Stadium on Sunday afternoon, kicking off at 3pm. Tickets at: hunsletrflc.ticketco.events/uk
There are a number of events celebrating the 80th anniversary of VE Day (Victory in Europe). On Monday 2-4pm at St Andrew’s Community Centre, Cardinal Road, Beeston, LS11 8AQ. Holbeck Together are celebrating on Tuesday with a cream tea and live entertainment at St Matthew’s Community Centre, LS11 9NR from 12-2:30pm. Then on Thursday, 12-2pm, The Friends of Hunslet Moor will be serving afternoon cream tea at their hub behind the purple tower blocks.
There are a host of Police Contact Points this week. This is a chance to raise concerns or ask questions of the Leeds South Neighbourhood Policing Team in an informal setting. On Tuesday they will be at Hunslet Community Hub & Library from 10am-12pm. On Wednesday they are at Dewsbury Road Community Hub & Library, 10am-12pm and at Ingram Gardens Community Centre from 10am-12pm. Finally they will be at Beeston Community Hub & Library on Town Street on Thursday 10am-12pm.
The support group for women going through the menopause holds its monthly drop-in session on Tuesday evening, 7-8pm at Hamara Healthy Living Centre, Tempest Road, Beeston, LS11 6RD. Women can receive information, support, some freebies, and the chance to make new friends in a safe and confidential supportive environment. Refreshments will be provided.
The Middleton Life History Group meets on Wednesday at 10am at the United Reformed Church, Nesfield Road, Belle Isle, LS10 3LG.
Holbeck Together host their monthly Wellbeing Breakfast on Thursday, 10-11am at St Matthew’s Community Centre, LS11 9NR. Pop along for food, advice and support from varios local agencies.
Fruit Works Co-op are transforming the field behind Belle Isle Post Office into a thriving tree nursery and forest garden. Come along to the monthly Action Days to give them a hand. Equipment and refreshments are provided. Meet at the gates next to the Post Office on Belle Isle Parade. The next session is on Thursday from 12:30-4pm.
Tuesday sees the start of new Legs, Bums and Tums class at Hamara Healthy Living Centre, Tempest Road, Beeston, LS11 6RD. These women-only sessions are free and open to women of all abilities and run from 5-6pm. Call Sunayna on 07555 317007 for more information.
Hunslet Tenants and Residents Association meet on Friday at 6 pm at the Involve Community Centre, Whitfield Avenue, Hunslet, LS10 2QE.
And finally, gulls just wanna have fun: Seagulls Paint are holding another women’s painting session on Friday from 7pm. Come with friends, come on your own, bring a bottle of bubbly if you fancy and have some fun. Let go of the week and enjoy being at one with the paint. Book tickets here.
