Free guided Bluebell walks on Sunday Bank holiday Monday

The Friends of Middleton Park are hosting a free guided Bluebell walks in Middleton Park on Sunday and Monday (4 and 5 May 2025).

As is now traditional on May Day bank holiday the Friends of Middleton Park, in collaboration with Middleton Railway, start their summer season of events with guided walks in the woods that are now carpetted with a mass of  bluebells.

There will be three guided walks on both days, starting at the Visitor Centre at 11am, 12:20pm and 2pm. We will meet the 11:10am, 12:30pm and 2:10pm trains from Moor Road at Park Halt, then take everyone through the bluebell woods back to the Visitor Centre where the cafe will be open for refreshments. Visitors coming by train will have ample time to explore the park and catch a train back. The last train back from Park Halt is at 3:45pm.

Join us this Sunday or Monday at the Visitor Centre or if coming by train at Park Halt, for a walk of approximately three quarters of an hour. The walks will be on woodland paths, so please wear sensible shoes. The paths are OK for small to medium child buggies, but be prepared for a push uphill!

And for those who need wheelchair access, or have a large pram, there are enough guides so that you can be taken on an alternative accessible route through the woods.
