What’s On Roundup 23-29 May 2026

Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds.

We start this week in Cottingley where the Teens & Tweens are taking over the Community Centre (LS11 0HJ) for Jumble Sale, raising money to keep the building open for youth activities. 10am-12pm on Saturday.

It’s also the Holbeck Jumble Sale on Saturday, 10am-12:30pm at Jamyang Buddhist Centre LS11 9RQ. You’ll find loads of bargains with prices capped at £1, plus the shop and Happy Yak café will be open too.

Hunslet Nelson Cricket Club’s First XI play Buttershaw St Paul’s CC on Saturday at 12pm. The home fixture is at their ground on Gipsy Lane, opposite Cockburn School, LS11 5TT.

Leeds Playhouse bring their community show to Middleton on Saturday afternoon. Makebeth is a family-friendly, interactive retelling of ‘The Scottish Play’. There are two shows at the Parochial Hall, North Lingwell Road, LS10 3SR. At 2:30pm and 6pm. Book tickets here.

Staying with the thespian theme, the latest show to visit Slung Low’s Warehouse in Holbeck (LS11 9RQ) is ‘I’m Muslamic Don’t Panik!’ Story telling meets dance, live music meets clowning. An intimate spectacle of identity, where being British, Iranian, and a Hip-Hop head collide. Saturday, 7:30pm, pay-what you-decide. Tickets at www.slunglow.org/shows Age advisory 12+

The Friends of Middleton Park have organised a Fun Dog Show on Sunday afternoon, 1-4pm. This is less pedigree and more waggiest tail and takes place near the Visitor Centre.

Staying in Middleton Park, Being You Leeds are holding the first of monthly walking group, meeting at the visitor centre at 2pm on Sunday. Perfect if you’re looking for a friendly way to get active, meet new people, and enjoy the outdoors. Contact Margaret 07906 116453.

As it’s a Bank Holiday Middleton Railway will be running trains on Monday and also on Wednesday when kids can ride for just £1. Entry to the museum is free at the Engine House, Moor Road, Hunslet, LS10 2JG.

DAZL are holding a Fun Day on Monday, 11am-4pm at their HQ on Acre Road in Middleton LS10 4JQ. They are raising money to allow local children to compete in the World Dance Championship. Their will be glitter tattoos, food, raffles, bouncy castles, bric-a-brac and of course, dance performances.

Set up camp for a day of wildness in the woods at TCV Skelton Grange (LS10 1RS). Wild Play for 8-12 year olds is on Tuesday. Tickets are available on Eventbrite here.

BITMO have lots of half term activities this week at The GATE for their tenants (LS10 3QH). There’s crafting from 3:15pm on Tuesday with Tea served at 4:15pm. Then on Wednesday there’s lunch from 1:15pm followed by den building and bushcraft activities led by the team from Skelton Grange. On Friday after breakfast 9:15-11:15am the Playworker will be leading more craft activities from 10am-12pm. Contact Jo 07891 271692.

Leeds Discovery Centre on Carlisle Road near Leeds Dock LS10 1LB holds the thousands of artefacts that Leeds Museums don’t have room to put on display. On Tuesday and Thursday they are holding workshops and tours at 10am, 1pm and 3pm, celebrating Everyday Heroes. There are craft activities and a chance to see firefighter and nurse uniforms. Just around the corner at The Royal Armouries Museum, you can step back in time to experience life in Saxon times. The free exhibition features hands-on activities, live shows and creative fun and runs all week.

Support, rest and relaxation are on offer to survivors of domestic abuse on Tuesday at the first of this month’s Survivor-led Sisterhood meeting. St George’s Centre, Middleton, 11am-1:20pm.

A Councillor advice surgery will be held at Middleton Elderly Aid’s Social Centre on Acre Road on Wednesday from 9:30-10:30am.

There is a free Legal Advice drop-in session at Beeston Community Hub & Library on Town Street LS11 8PN on Wednesday from 12-1pm.

Down at White Rose Shopping Centre the Kids Carnival runs all week and there will be  appearances from Shaun the Sheep on Wednesday as well as official Aardman clay-modelling workshops taking place on Thursday and Friday.

Hunslet Remembered is a chance to reminisce and discuss local history on Thursday from 10am-12pm at Hunslet Community Hub & Library, off Church Street, LS10 2NS.

The Salvation Army hold their monthly Friendship Lunch on Thursday, 11am-1pm at their base on Hunslet Hall Road, LS11 6QB. It’s a warm space with chat and games etc plus a free snack lunch.

A new free weekly session of Basketball has started on Holbeck Moor LS11 9BA every Thursday, 4:45-5:45pm for children aged 7-16 years.

A public consultation is underway considering how to improve Holbeck’s green spaces and streets. Pop into St Matthew’s Community Centre (LS11 9NR) on Thursday between 5:30-7:30pm to see what’s being proposed and to have your say.

There is a Police Contact Point at Cottingley Community Centre on Friday, 10am-12pm. This is a chance to raise concerns or ask questions of the Leeds South Neighbourhood Policing Team in an informal setting.

And finally, on Friday residents of Beeston & Holbeck ward can meet their Councillors at the monthly surgeries: 4pm at Beeston Library on Town Street; 5pm at Slung Low’s Warehouse in Holbeck on Crosby Street; and 6pm at Cottingley Community Centre.
