Welcome back to The Tetley

It’s now been almost four months since we at The Tetley, Hunslet’s own art gallery, had to close our doors to the public due to the Covid-19 pandemic and we’ve dearly missed the excitement and enjoyment that comes from a space full of imagination and creativity.

Our commitment is, as it has been throughout this challenging period, to only move forward with reopening once we’re confident we can do so safely.

We’re delighted to announce that we re-opened our sunny outdoor terrace for drinks and bar snacks on Friday 24 July. Initially we will be open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

On Friday (7 August 2020) we’ll reopen our galleries with two exhibitions: Taus Makhacheva: Hold Your Horses and Emii Alrai: The High Dam. The Bar & Kitchen will also be open fully between Wednesday and Sunday. For more details on our opening hours please see our website www.thetetley.org/visit

We know that for many our reopening can’t come soon enough but we’ve chosen to wait until August to ensure we are able to introduce a range of essential safety measures which will make your visit both safe and enjoyable.

These measures include bookable arrival time slots for our gallery, a new at table ordering system and a change to the layout of our Bar & Kitchen.

For those who can’t, or choose not to return to public venues just yet we remain committed to delivering work in other ways including our virtual tours and our Tiny Tetley @ Home series.

Finally, I’d like to take a moment to offer our sincerest thanks to everyone who has supported us during this challenging time. Every penny you spend here at The Tetley helps us as a charity, from developing the artists of the future to supporting our local community and we will need the support of our audiences and friends more than ever before. Please continue to give generously to support us, or book a table, or one of our new private dining options, as a treat in a safe environment.

A special thanks must be made to Arts Council England, Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, Leeds City Council and Carlsberg UK without whose support we simply wouldn’t have been able to reopen.

For now, our teams are busy preparing and adapting our space for reopening. We’re really looking forward to welcoming you back!
