The South Leeds Life Group met last week to discuss the future of the blog. South Leeds Life has built itself up to be, we believe, a significant source of news for people in Leeds 10 and 11. We hope you agree.
We have reached this stage through voluntary efforts, but to keep it going and develop it further we recognise that we need some paid support. We advertised a tender to provide articles and support community reporters through the autumn. After interviewing and considering his tender submission we have awarded that work to Jeremy Morton. We believe that if the blog is to continue to develop we need a mixture of volunteer and paid contributions We are devising a strategy to raise funds from a range of sources. We will continue to apply for grants and we are investigating the best way to carry advertising.
We are also asking you, our readers, to support us. Today we are launching our South Leeds life Supporters Subscriptions.
If you value South Leeds Life and would like to see the blog develop we are asking you to make a small monthly contribution. We suggest you donate £2 per month, but if you can afford it, perhaps you could donate £5 per month.
We also recognise that for many of out readers money is tight. So we are not restricting access to the site to those that can pay – a so-called “pay wall”. However, if you can afford to we hope you will support South Leeds Life financially.
If you have internet banking you can set up your own standing order, if not we’ve prepared a form you can fill in and send to your bank. Our bank details are:
- Bank: Co-operative Bank
- Sort Code: 08 – 92 – 99
- Account name: South Leeds Life Group
- Account Number: 65591910
Download the standing order form: Supporters Standing Order
Thank you for your support.

I am happy to pay a monthly charge. I think it’s only right if we are to continue getting good quality community reporting!
After publishing 2 pieces from myself about my Amber and promoting her fb group I’ll be sending contributions too 🙂
