Scam emails alert

We’ve received the following scam alert from West Yorkshire Trading Standards:

Poverty busters logo 2It has been brought to the attention of officers at West Yorkshire Trading Standards, that scam emails are being sent to members of the public, claiming to be from DHL and FEDEX Global.

The emails are sent to “notify” the recipient that a parcel, intended for them, cannot be delivered as their postal code has been recorded by the sender incorrectly. These emails do not request financial or personal information, but ask the recipient to open an attachment, releasing a virus which is then downloaded on to the recipient’s computer.

Senders claim to be acting “on behalf” of DHL and FEDEX, but do not have a corporate email address, the majority being sent from yahoo.com or yahoo.co.uk.

Have you received a suspicious email? Let us know.
