Red Ladder are a theatre company based in Leeds. We’ve been bringing theatre shows to Belle Isle for a few years now, but now we want to make a show, with you, in the heart of our community.
We’re working with Belle Isle Tenant Management Organisation (BITMO) on a project called Belle Isle Stories, which celebrates the talent and creativity of the amazing people who live here. We want to hear your stories about life in Belle Isle to create a community showcase in June. They might be funny, intriguing, ordinary or extraordinary – every story matters!
The stories will be shared at a celebration of Belle Isle Talent at BITMOs Gate on Sunday 26 June 2022. There will be food, music and a showcase of incredible local talent. Everyone is welcome to join!
Got a story to tell? There are lots of ways to get involved…
1. Submit your story
If you’ve got an idea ready to go, then get in touch! Don’t worry about formalities – just tell it to us like you would tell it to your mates, and we’ll do the rest. You could send it to us by email, voice recording, tell us in person or even make a short film. Check out all the different ways to get in touch below.
2. Take part in a free workshop
We’ll be running free workshops in the build up to the event. These courses are a great way to meet new people, develop your writing skills and do something a bit different. We’re a friendly bunch – everyone is welcome! Here’s what we’ve got coming up:

When? Thursdays (19 & 26 May, 2 & 9 June)

Don’t worry if you’ve missed the first session, you can join at any time. If you are able get in touch to let us know to expect you that would be brilliant, but not essential. You’re welcome to drop in any time!
Not sure writing or acting is for you? We’re also looking for individuals and groups to perform on Sunday 26 June. Singing? Juggling? Dance? If you have a performance that is between 2 and 10 minutes in length, we’d like to hear from you!
