Read our July newspaper online

We have been distributing copies of the June newspaper to venues that remain open in LS10 and LS11 today (Thursday 2 July 2020).

Copies are available from various food shops including Beeston Co-op, Middleton Asda and Dewsbury Road Tescos as well as many small neighbourhood shops. Watch out for copies at charity shops and pubs as they open. Please do not make a special trip to pick up a paper, but do collect one if you are doing your essential shopping.

We have been unable to deliver to many regular pick up points including libraries, schools, GP practices and community centres. We have delivered to care homes and sheltered flats and to the Neighbourhood Networks who are organising visits to older people.

If your local venue hasn’t got any copies or has run out, please let us know, email: info@southleedslife.com

Remember, if you become a pound-a-week supporting subscriber we will deliver a copy to your door.

Alternatively you can read it online here:

  1. Mr Benn’s suggestion regarding HS2 in the July SLL is admirable. If work were to start at Leeds in conjunction with the work already under way in the south of England, then we could have increased employment options here in the north and the link up with the southern section would take place sooner. In terms of employment. It would provide many opportunities in civil, mechanical and electrical engineering. It would provide Yorkshire with the fast link that we need to overcome the fact that the East Coast Main Line used by LNER is already operating at or near capacity and it cannot be speeded up further without a long period of delayed trains whilst enabling work was carried out. It would also reduce the total cost of HS2, as it would save many years’ worth of inflation. This would do well to be part of Mr Johnson’s grand plan for investing our way out of our current problems in Yorkshire.
