Councillors Mohammed Iqbal and Paul Wray (Labour, Hunslet and Riverside) have said they now plan to invest in improvements to Leasowe Recreation in Hunslet Carr as part of their ongoing park improvements programme across the ward.
Cllr Mohammed Iqbal said
“Paul and I have improved a significant amount of the greenspace and parks in the ward, with improvements implemented across most in recent years, with more phases planned at most sites, including a joint project with Middleton Railway at Beza Street.
“But Leasowe Recreation is the last large greenspace to have not received any attention yet, but we plan to change that this year.
“We don’t have any plans in mind as to what yet and so we want to hear from local people about what they’d like to see. We’ll use this initial feedback to give some initial guidance to Parks and Countryside staff, who will then draw up more detailed plans.
“These will then be put back out for a more detailed consultation with residents before any final decisions are made.”
Residents can feedback their initial thoughts to Cllrs Iqbal and Wray via email on mohammed.iqbal@leeds.gov.uk and/or paul.wray@leeds.gov.uk by Wednesday 14 June 2023. Residents can also write to them at Civic Hall, 4th Floor East, Leeds, LS1 1UR.
