Let’s Move: South Leeds returns on Saturday

South Leeds — get your trainers ready, your water bottles topped up, and your energy levels high, because Let’s Move is back for 2026! And this year, we’re gearing up for the biggest, brightest and most community powered event yet.

Last year’s celebration at Cross Flatts Park was a sun soaked, fun packed triumph. More than 800 children and young people filled the park with movement, creativity and laughter, while 37 brilliant partner organisations delivered everything from sports tasters to arts activities and wellbeing support. The atmosphere was electric — a real snapshot of South Leeds at its best.

Let’s Move: South Leeds is all about fun, family, activity and community pride. The 2025 event brought the park to life with:

  • Dance, roller skating, cycling, cricket, football and yoga tasters
  • A buzzing 1km family fun run (where, yes, the children definitely outran the adults!)
  • Delicious free food, community stalls and local services
  • Bike repair and registration stations
  • Creative arts and play activities from Yorkshire Contemporary’s Inside Out project
  • A hugely popular kit donation station helping make sport accessible for all

None of this would have been possible without the passionate local organisations who came together, with support from the Inner South Community Committee and the generous help of Morrisons Hunslet’s Community Champion.

This year there are a host organisations getting ready to inspire you and make it a brilliant day.

Check out the map below (subject to change on the day) to find your new favourite sport or activity.

Try tennis, rugby, athletics, football, martial arts, cycling, basketball. Get arty with Yorkshire Contemporary, or theatrical with Brave Words, or find your groove with DAZL dance.

Let’s Move is more than an event — it’s a celebration of everything that makes South Leeds strong, vibrant and connected. And in 2026, we’re going even bigger.

Mark your calendar: Saturday 9 May, 12-3pm. We can’t wait to see you there.

While you’re here, can we ask a favour?

South Leeds Life is published by a not-for-profit social enterprise. We keep our costs as low as possible but we’ve been hit by increases in the print costs for our monthly newspaper which have doubled in the last two years.
