South Leeds residents are invited to snap up the final few (free) tickets for two community meals, this coming week – being served up by youngsters from the local Space youth groups.
The three-course meals are being held on Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6 December (2018), both at 6pm, at the northern end of Beeston. Anyone is welcome to come, but places are limited and booking is essential: see below. (You’ll learn the venue when you book in!)
The Space youth programme has been running in Beeston since 2004, in conjunction with with Kidz Klub, and – whilst not affiliated to any particular church – is largely funded by the Salvation Army. About 80 young people aged 11-18 attend the groups each week – and also participate in trips, residential trips, and volunteering. The groups have been hosting community meals for over 5 years.
Local resident Mark Hodgkinson helps run the groups, and commented:
“These meals are a great opportunity for people in our community to come together, build relationships, and enjoy great food. We want to give our young people opportunities to develop new skills, get to know other people in their community, and have a great time in the process. Join us if you can!”
To book in for the meals, email Mark on mahodgkinson85@hotmail.com; you will at that point find out the venue. Thanks to Touchstone’s MAP project, for their financial support for the meals – via the recent U Choose grants scheme. To find out more about Space and how to join, click here.
