Kidz Klub Leeds (a local charity working alongside 1000+ children and their families across 17 inner city communities) is celebrating a “right royal” season following its recent recognition with the King’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest honour awarded to volunteer groups across the UK.
The past month has been marked by a series of special moments at both national and local level, bringing together volunteers, children and supporters to celebrate the impact of the organisation’s work.
Kidz Klub at Buckingham Palace
Kidz Klub was proudly represented at a Buckingham Palace Garden Party by Steve Reilly, Chair of Trustees, and Asha Roberts, a dedicated volunteer of over 10 years.
Their attendance recognised the commitment, compassion and service shown by every member of the Kidz Klub team past and present and highlighted the organisation’s contribution to children and communities in Leeds.

A Visit to Kidz Klub

Kidz Klub also welcomed The Lord-Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Deeba Malik, who visited Central Kidz Klub to formally present the award on behalf of His Majesty The King.
Her visit was a joyful and memorable occasion. She personally greeted and shook hands with over 360 children, speaking warmly about the importance and potential of each one. She shared that His Majesty The King had sent her to thank the volunteers for their dedication and encouraged the children by reminding them that they are important to the King and can grow into leaders of the future. She also promised to pass on greetings from Kidz Klub Leeds to The King and Queen- something the children were thrilled to hear.
The visit created a powerful and lasting impression, the children were thrilled and the volunteers were thoroughly encouraged by the recognising their dedication of the Kidz Klub team.
“This has been a truly special time for everyone connected with Kidz Klub,” said Laura Hodgkinson Charity Co Leader. “The King’s Award reflects the incredible work of our volunteers and the very special children that we are here to serve. We are honoured to celebrate this together.”
Sarah Turner Charity Co Leader shared;
“Volunteering remains at the heart of everything we do, bringing people together to make a difference for every child we serve. We would love to welcome new volunteers from across the city. If you would love to know more, please do reach out and get in touch!’’
The King’s Award for Voluntary Service recognises outstanding contributions from volunteer groups across the UK, and Kidz Klub’s recognition highlights the life-changing work taking place in communities across Leeds.
