Have you been to the new Middleton Park Visitor Centre yet? It was built with Heritage Lottery Fund money and it’s got lovely big windows overlooking the lake, writes Frances Jones.

There is a cafe there during the week, run by people with learning difficulties from Leeds City Council Adult Social Care, open 10.15am-2.15pm Monday-Friday selling drinks and snacks.

The Friends of Middleton Park will be running its summer  programme there this year, starting with bluebell walks on May Day Sunday and Monday.

We will open the Visitor Centre every Sunday afternoon right through to the end of September, serving hot drinks and cakes.

There will be children’s activities and lots of entertainment for young and old, including brass bands, circus skills workshops, history and wildlife walks, celebrations of local dance and music talent, even as far as a Shakespeare play (performed as only Oddsocks can!).

Please pick up a leaflet at the Visitor Centre, or visit www.fomp.co.uk for more   information. You can also ring us on 07914 729051, or even follow us on Facebook (where we have over 200 followers and counting).
