Investigation launched into Belle Isle murder

Detectives have launched a murder investigation after the death of a woman in Belle Isle.

Officers were called at 10.25am yesterday morning (11 June 2026) to a report concerning the welfare of a woman at an address on Foster Square.

A woman aged 51 was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A 52-year-old man was taken to hospital in a critical condition. He has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team are carrying out extensive enquiries.

Whilst we are in the early stages of the investigation, officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the death.

The woman’s family is being supported by specially trained officers.
