Hanne Talbot from Beeston has been in touch with news of an exciting opportunities for children currently in Year 6.
Seven years ago I went to India with three other Leeds children and met children from all over the world. It changed my view of the world. Since then I’ve been to international meetings in Norway, Hungary and Sweden, learning, by experience, to live with and understand children of other nationalities, religions and cultures. CISV (Leeds and West Yorkshire) has been sending children to take part in these activities for over 40 years.
The children are placed in delegations of four (2 girls and 2 boys). The delegations travel (with fully trained and CRB checked adult leaders) to different parts of the world to a “village” where they stay for approximately four weeks. In recent years we have sent delegations to Netherlands, Brazil, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Jordan, Costa Rica and Germany, Luxembourg, Mexico and the U.S.A. as well as to “villages” in England.
The child who is suited to the programme will be confident and outgoing, able to socialise and communicate readily with others and be independent enough to be away from his/her family for four weeks. The cost to the child’s family will be approx £1,000. We understand that this a lot of money, but we feel it is comparable with school trips and we will work with you to find financial assistance if this is a problem.
If you want to put your child forward for selection please complete the form here. We will then be able to get back to you with details of a meeting for parents (14 January) and the selection process itself (19 January).
