On Tuesday 29 October 2024 the new look Hunslet ‘town square’ hosted another successful family play event giving young families a chance to play, get creative and try new things.
Over 80 children and adults enjoyed a range of fun activities in the (suprising!) autumn sunshine including arts & crafts, parachute games, water activities, a sand pit, chalk art, den building, bubbles, guttering car track, snakes & ladders and sports.
The event was delivered by Hunslet & Belle Isle Community Project and is kindly funded by Get Set Leeds Local as part of ongoing work to develop play opportunities out and about in Hunslet.
A brilliant first event took place in August and this second event was bigger and better. Attendance was high and people were enjoying the activities and making new friends.
The plan is for a next event during the Easter holidays and then regular activities next spring and summer – watch this space for details.
Hunslet & Belle Isle Community Project deliver a weekly after school club for primary aged children and their families providing arts & crafts, board games, play and sports activities at Involve Centre, Whitfield Avenue, Hunslet LS10 2QE. Find out more information through the details below.
Hunslet ‘town square’ is a pedestrianised area located just off Church Street in Hunslet – in front of Hunslet Community Hub & Library and next to Morrisons. Over the last 9 months the area has undergone a transformation to develop it in to a valuable community space. So far wild flower beds have been planted and seating areas installed. In August a range of eye catching and exciting play markings have been painted on the floor around the area with more work planned.
