Rain certainly didn’t stop play at the Friends of Hunslet Moor’s Jubilee celebrations on Sunday afternoon (5 June 2022). An amazing 11-strong team of volunteers set up for the event, manifesting that the predicted rain would hold off.
With the help of two gazebos and the use of inside what was the bowling hut (which we’re in the process of taking over the lease), we hosted an afternoon full of fun games, burgers, hot dogs, tea, coffee, cakes and as always – a crowd drawing tombola.
Attended by residents from our local community, as well as Councillors Ed Carlisle and Paul Wray, familiar faces were in attendance, as well as welcoming new members. The Queen even made an appearance.
Everyone who attended received a commemorative Jubilee mug, ‘have a drink on FOHM’ tea bag boxes and wild flower seeds for our younger members to scatter.
A huge “thank you” goes out to all our unwavering volunteers who helped arrange, set up and pack away this event. Without you it wouldn’t be possible. Kelly, Community Champion from Morrisons for her endless support and amazing donations. Councillors Wray and Iqbal for monetary donations. Councillor Carlisle for donating lots of goodies.
Our next event will be a summer picnic. Follow our Facebook page to keep updated.
