This Friday (4 November 2016) sees The Hunslet Club host their annual amateur boxing competition, with young boxers – starting as young as 10 – from Hunslet and across the North battling it out in a series of fights.
In what promises to be a night of high-quality boxing, National Schools Champion Ellis Price, 13 – who’s based at the Hunslet Club, and is the brother of equally high-flying boxer Hope Price – will be action early on. And in the final bout of the night, young England International flyweight Ismail Khan, 19 – another Hunslet Club member, and a Beeston resident – will be defending the Northern Belt. Doors open at 7pm, with tickets between £10-15. For directions to the club, click here.
The club, which celebrated its 75th anniversary last year, has produced scores of national, regional and local boxing champions through the years. To get involved, join their boxing classes four evenings per week, led by professional coaches, for just £1.50; these are open to all ages, and both women/girls and men/boys; click here for full info. The club also runs a wide range of other sports and dance activities, and community events, for all ages.
Other forthcoming events include a fireworks display on Saturday 5 November, and a pantomime 2-4 December; further info here.
